Who we are

Virtual Cemetery (the "site") is owned and operated by Sea Blast Ltd, registered at Cane Garden, Kingstown, Saint George, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. For any privacy-related question you can contact us at vcemetery@protonmail.com.

Information you provide

When you submit a memorial, you may voluntarily provide a full name, birth and death years, a short tribute, a full memorial story, a submitter name, an email address, a location, and a photo. If you leave a guestbook message (condolence) on a memorial, we collect the message text and, optionally, a name. This information is stored so memorials and guestbook messages can be displayed on the site and so we can contact you about your submission if needed.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, standard technical information is recorded when you visit — for example your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring site. This data is used to operate the site, prevent abuse, and understand general usage.

Cookies and similar technologies

Virtual Cemetery and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences, and — where applicable — serve and measure advertising. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the site may not work as expected if you do.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — for example which pages are viewed and roughly how much traffic the site receives. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your IP address and device/browser details. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.

Spam and abuse prevention

Memorial and guestbook submissions may be checked using Cloudflare Turnstile, a tool that helps confirm a submission is coming from a person rather than automated software. This may involve Cloudflare processing limited technical information about your browser and connection. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.

Advertising and third parties

This site may display advertisements served by Google, including through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

How we use information

Information is used to display approved memorials, review and moderate submissions, respond to enquiries, maintain site security, comply with legal obligations, and improve the overall experience of the site. We do not sell personal information.

Service providers

We rely on trusted service providers to operate the site: Cloudflare for hosting, content delivery, and spam/abuse prevention (Turnstile); Supabase for storing memorial and guestbook data; and Google for analytics (and, where applicable, advertising). These providers only process information on our behalf and under appropriate safeguards.

Children's privacy

Virtual Cemetery is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the site, please contact us and we will remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights — or to request the removal of a memorial — email vcemetery@protonmail.com.

Data retention

Approved memorials are kept for as long as the site remains active, since the purpose of the site is lasting remembrance. Submissions that are rejected, withdrawn, or requested to be removed are deleted from our active systems within a reasonable period.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. When we make changes we will update the "last updated" date at the top of the page. Significant changes may be highlighted on the site.
